The new year is almost upon us!
Do you have any traditions to celebrate? 🎉🎊
Personally, I've never been one for New Year's Resolutions. I don't like the idea of waiting for a special day on a calendar to make a positive change in your life. And I also recognize that, fundamentally speaking, our brains will often reject major sweeping changes to our lifestyle.
Small incremental changes over time are more likely to become habits, and habits are more likely to last. 💁♀️
So instead of making a resolution every year, I choose a Word of the Year. 🗯
An inspirational Word of the Year is a single word that encapsulates what you need more of, what you want to focus on, or what you need to improve on. It resonates with you - mind, body, and soul - and becomes a constant echo in your daily life. It's almost like a theme, or an anchor, and continuously encourages you.
Your Word of the Year can guide you in your choices each day as you strive to become a better version of yourself. 🗣
Last year my word was "Authenticity." It was something I longed for deep down far longer than I had realized. Once I knew that was what I needed in my life, I committed to it entirely. Every action (or inaction) I considered was weighed and measured by this word, which allowed me to really know if that particular action was for ME or for what I thought someone else wanted me to be. 💜
That word has served me so well in 2019 and I don't think I will ever give it up. But I want to continue to grow in 2020 and add another word to focus on.
I just haven't decided what it will be yet. 🤔
What might your Word of the Year for 2020 be?
